Other new features include the ability to choose your own alert sounds and colorful camera frames.
Snapchat is adding some new features today that will only be available to people who pay for Snapchat Plus. These features include custom notification sounds, colourful camera borders, and the ability to change how long a story lasts. In case you forgot, Snapchat Plus is the company’s premium subscription tier. It costs as little as $3.99 a month and gives you access to some extra features.
With the new Custom Story Expiration feature, you can choose when you want your story to end. You can choose between one hour and a week. So, if you want something to last longer, like a birthday party or an engagement, you won’t have to watch it disappear before all of your friends and family can see it. Before this update, both free users and people who paid for Snapchat Plus could only keep their stories for 24 hours.
With the new custom notification sounds, Snapchat Plus users can assign different tones to different friends. This way, you can tell who sent you a snap without having to look at your phone. With the Camera Color Border feature, you can change the color of the border around your Snapchat camera. You can choose from eight different colours. Last but not least, users can now decorate their Snapchat profiles with three Halloween-themed Bitmoji backgrounds that are only available to them.
These paid features might be added to the free service at some point in the future. At its launch, Snapchat called the Plus subscription “a collection of exclusive, experimental, and pre-release features.” Other services, like Twitter, have also been known to give premium features to paid subscribers first (like the ability to edit tweets for Twitter Blue subscribers) before making them available to everyone.
